About Kristi & Tribute

I grew up in the South. I also left it (to a degree) as an adult. But the South never left me. And I am deeply grateful for that heritage, for it has given me so much. The South may be a physical place, but for me, and many others, it is also a state of being.

Despite its distressing history, the American South is magical. At its core, it is simplicity, tradition, community, warmth, sharing, kindness, and a love for living. My philosophy has always been to acknowledge and never forget the pain caused and still felt, to carry the burden owed, and to take the good of my place, letting it guide and inform me.

The rich traditions of the culture of the South stem deeply from food. Most of the memories of my childhood and those I continue to make today involve the sharing of a meal - or as in the case of my beloved family and many others I know, talking about what we are going to eat next.

Big lunches after church, graduation and wedding teas, shelling peas on the porch visiting with loved ones. The food, as with most cultures, is the tie that binds. Its rich and diverse and worthy of celebration. And that is why my business partner (and part-Southerner himself) created Tribute.

As noted in our welcome message, Tribute honors the elegance, tradition, and comfort of Southern food and its impact on all those who have the great fortune to know and experience it.

I hope that through Tribute you find yourself learning about and savoring the rich food traditions of the South. And I hope that you will make part of it a part of you as well.

Warmest,

Kristi
